Polo Sweater – #RDU40 Live To Air

Polo Sweater are a four-piece pop band based in Christchurch.
Drawing from such influences as Hiatus Kaiyote, Deluxe and Ed Sheeran, as well as elements of funk, fusion and hip- hop, Polo Sweater have devised a groovy and unique sound.

Upon meeting through the Ara Music Arts course, Polo Sweater started out as a trio, consisting of Sarena Hurley (Keyboard and Vocals), David Cloughley (Bass) and Sam Lane (Drums), before Terence O’Connor (Guitar), was later added to the mix.

After playing their debut show with French for Rabbits at the Darkroom, they received a staggering amount of love for the music they played. Since then, Polo Sweater have played several shows around Christchurch, With bands such as Nick Dow, Skelter, Black Fox Trio and Phil Parkes, at local venues Dux Live, The Darkroom, Wunderbar and Boo Radleys.

Polo Sweater are working on releasing an EP later this year.

‘Alternative Radio: RDU98.5FM since 1976″ is on at Canterbury Museum until 14 August 2016.
