Pay Dirt

Author Hilary Low has found the diary of William Smart, an early settler to Canterbury who went in search of gold on the West Coast in the early 1860’s. She’s transcribed it into “Pay Dirt”, which covers his diary, and the reasons why he wrote it. We talk to her about the book, and looking for gold in the wilderness of the West Coast.
