Heard It Here First – The Androidss

Heard It Here First – The Androidss

Heard It Here First celebrates the fringe, challenging and brilliant musicians who you would have heard about first on RDU throughout the years.

The Androidss were a hard-living South Island group drawn north in 1980 by the active Auckland punk and post-punk scene.

Well schooled in street-level decadence, the notorious Christchurch proto-punk group cut their musical teeth dispensing cover-heavy sets with songs by David Bowie, Iggy Pop and Lou Reed at the DB Gladstone and Hillsborough Tavern in Christchurch before stepping out for shows in Dunedin and Wellington.

Heard It Here First is proudly brought to you by AudioCulture.co.nz – The noisy library of New Zealand music.

‘Alternative Radio: RDU98.5FM since 1976’ is on at Canterbury Museum, Rolleston Ave until August 14.
