STRANGE BEHAVIOUR ft Eastern Bloc

Location
89 Lichfield St
Venue
Strangers Lane

There’s a few things we’re best known for, the most important being our strange, odd, but generally pleasant behaviour. It’s that type of behaviour we’re keen on bringing out every month, so when the sun goes down, the shadows take over the streets and the sounds of the city grow quiet, Stranges Lane pumps out the big tunes.

Strange Behaviour is our new monthly night that showcases an amazing selection of musical talent from New Zealand and further afield. Free, as per usual.

Our 4th installment on Friday 29th April brings you direct from Wellington, Rhythm and Vines and Splore favourites Eastern Bloc!

The EASTERN BLOC story started in Wellington New Zealand, when local club regular DJ

MAREK (Polish descent) and DJ/production talent ARTUR aka BEAT MOB (Ukrainian descent)

quickly bonded over a mutual appreciation of bass music, vodka and their shared European history.

The pairs collective palette of influences & genres earned them international support slots in New Zealand for Flosstradamus, Alison Wonderland, Hoodboi, Baauer, Flume, TWRK, Rustie,
DJ Craze, Danny Brown, Mr Carmack, DJ Spinn, & Lunice amongst many others. Playing together regularly organically grew into the production of original music and official/unofficial remixes including JEREMIH, TWISTA, and local rapper YOUNG TAPZ. Their original ‘Jersey club’ spin on tracks earned them international blog support & mix features from
Complex/Hypetrak/Do Androids Dance/Vice/Thump/Noisey and more.

Their first big international milestone however, came off the the back of their flip of Rocafella Records artist & Kanye West collaborator VIC MENSA’s DOWN ON MY LUCK which not only earned them an 8/10 review in UK’s coveted MIXMAG Magazine, but also praise online from Mensa himself which led to a meeting in Auckland when he was touring. All this work culminated into the boys debut record, the FLAMINGO EP, which caught the eye of Skrillex’s prestigious NEST HQ platform who exclusively premiered the release to instant acclaim in November. Flamingo received viral status, astoundingly reaching the NUMBER #1 DANCE & #3 OVERALL Album spots on iTunes AND NUMBER #1 DANCE & #1 OVERALL Album Stream on Apple Music over the weekend of release.

With a heavy summer of touring & festival appearances including Splore, and Rhythm and Vines along with the curation and hosting of the ‘Bloc Stage’, 2016 is set to be the most exciting year for the duo yet.

Catch Eastern Bloc at Strange & Co on Friday 29th April from 8pm.
