No stranger to the stage, singer and entertainer Rutene Spooner is excited to be recording his debut album ‘Soul Searching’ at Orange Studios this November.

An extremely versatile singer, he is known for his ability to seamlessly switch between jazz, opera, soul, funk, pop and musical theatre and his soulful, dulcet tones have been described as being “smooth like caramel”.

‘Soul Searching’ is Rutene’s rich vocal interpretation of classic Soul, R&B and Motown hits like “Whats Going On” and “I heard It Through the Grapevine”, paying tribute to legends of soul like Otis Reading, Sam Cook, Marvin Gaye and Donny Hathaway.
Accompanied by some of Christchurch’s finest musicians and lead by musical director Hamish Oliver, the album is set to be released December 2015 and is the perfect compilations of feel good songs to see in the summer season.
