Shellac formed in Chicago in 1992 when bassist Bob Weston moved to the area, joining drummer Todd Trainer and guitarist Steve Albini, who had been playing music together. Shellac’s first live shows were in Chicago the following year, followed by dates in Australia, Japan, and New Zealand, incidentally the same three countries the band will tour between now and Christmas.

The band’s fifth LP Dude Incredible was released in September 2014 by long time label Touch and Go Records. When including the record on Pitchfork’s top 50 albums of 2014, Vish Khanna said “Dude Incredible is an honest representation of gifted musicians playing punk rock together with patient breath and coiled abandon.”

Touch and Go’s website says, “While there is no specific coordination between Shellac’s record releases and touring schedules, you can expect the band to tour at its usual sporadic and relaxed pace.”

The band promises that “new music can be expected anytime between now and the future.” In the meantime, be quick to secure tickets to see these giants of music live at one or more of these special shows.
