Auckland’s ska/rocksteady band Atsushi and the Moisties from Moisty Atsushi is returning to Christchurch to perform solo acoustic set at Space Academy.

Moisty Atsushi is a passionate musician who emigrated to New Zealand from Japan in 1999. With a near-obsessive passion for 1960s Jamaican music, he formed the Auckland based authentic ska band ‘Atsushi and the Moisties’. The Moisties have played numerous gigs and supported overseas bands, as well as acting as back up band for Stranger Cole (Jamaica) and Chris Murray (US/Canada). Over the past few years, Moisty Atsushi has been hard at work recreating his own version of the vintage Jamaican sound, and has come out the other side with an album featuring the Moisties with banch of local and international musicians including ska living legend, Lester Sterling of the Skatalites.
