Joseph van der Hurk is a Dunedin born folk and indie pop musician who has toured extensively throughout New Zealand and released several studio recordings with his former band Falconets. Described by as “A guitarist of the upmost fluency” he delivers melancholic, delicate picking and hearty strumming seamlessly with equal generosity, accompanied by a voice MusicNation appraised as “distinctively Unique” with ‘tone similar to that of English singer-songwriters Jake Bugg & King Charles.”

With a raft of new solo material and a strong back catalogue of tunes composed with Falconets he is currently recording a new album and preparing to tour abroad. His songs carry influences from Mumford and Sons, Angus and Julia Stone, Ben Howard and Bob Dylan and are weighted with a depth of honesty and adventurous intensity.
