Tour of the Shed

A backstage tour of The Court Theatre’s temporary home at ‘the shed’ in Addington taken by Rachel Sears (Education Manager at The Court Theatre), an insight into the work of the many designers that make up the creative teamworking on a production.

Allison Horsley – Literary Manager at The Court Theatre

Allison talks about The Court Theatre’s commissioning programme and the steps required to support a writer through the creative process. Allison spent the last decade working with adaptor Libby Appel to create new translations of Chekhov’s five major plays, now in print and in production throughout the United States. Allison is a frequent collaborator with writer/performer Luciann Lajoie, whose multi-media solo show, Date*, is on tour in the States. Allison is a tenured Associate Professor at University of Denver, specialising in dramatic literature and playwriting.

Dan Bain – Artistic Director of Court Jesters

Dan will teach us the basics of Improvisation and show us the joys of taking the audiences suggestions and turning them into performance. Dan Bain is the Artistic Director of The Court Jesters and has worked as an improviser, actor, motivational speaker, street performer, theatre director and stand-up comedian since graduating from Circo Arts in 2001.
