Delaney Davidson live with Band – Swim Down Low Sth Island Tour 2015

London Street, Lyttelton
$20 presales, $25 on door

Times are busy as ever for NZ’s wandering troubadour. Its been a busy year and 2015 is looking to be no different this summer. Delaney Davidson is pushing his Swim Down Low Collection, into the South Island and summarizing the last year of Band tours both in Europe and The North Island as he hits Lytteltons Wunderbar.
This Tour features a compact 3 piece aswell as his signature solo show and as usual will be a unique feature pretty much exclusive to this tour, so catch this incarnation of Delaney Davidson while you can.
Well received in the U.K., Mainland Continental Europe aswell as here in NZ this latest of his releases brings him to Solo Album number 5. Swim Down Low combines his classical European take on folk with a Lo Fi Glam sensibility, building songs into driving AM radio anthems wasted caberet theatre visions and swamp hop dance. Mixing the magic of Venice, the ghost of Lou Reed, giant monster fish, poisoned love, life is a dog, love is a dog… apocalypse warnings, a soldiers lament, the jailors last friend, farewell songs to dead ones… and a trip upriver to a local dance hall… The album features some classic Davidson originals aswell as some co-written songs with desert flower Victoria Williams, Fabio Pozzorini of Pussy Warmers, Alabamas unbelieveable James Hall, the great Eric Mcfadden, and Swiss Cajun legends Mama Rosin.

Seven albums into his career, Swim Down Low is one of his best yet. 8/10

His insightful pieces are as hard edged as they are funny or tragic.
