It’s a double header of singer/songwriter mayhem!

Daniel Madill

If you’re feeling a little seaweedy cast away that sandy shell and lend your ears to Daniel Madill as he wields his lo-fi blend of psych-folk and blues. Sounds to get you moving your feet and thinking your brain.
With influences ranging from 60’s Psychadelia to Chicago blues Madill’s songwriting contains absurdist wordplay filled with neoliberal nightmares. His songs will gently roll over you like a cool breeze on a summers day, but with enough edge to unsettle you out of your slumber.

Violet French

Violet French is no wet blanket. She is an unashamed folk musician who plays original songs with authority and a sure handle on the nuances of hercraft. Her guitar playing swings like Elizabeth Cotten and her lyrics argue for a personality which is sharp, sympathetic and observes the poetry in small moments. She lives in Christchurch and her songs serve as sardonic litanies to the soul sucking, crushing miniature of the everyday. She sings about clowns, hobos and walking in second hand shoes with a strong, sympathetic voice. She is Violet French and she waits for no man.
