Brown Council: The History of Performance – 2pm

Location
Level 3, 209 Tuam St
Venue
The Physics Room

Performance by artist collective Brown Council from Sydney, a part of Embodying the archive at The Physics Room 5 Sep – 10 Oct.

“Memory, like history, is a creative act” – Robert Blackson
In this participatory work, the four members of Brown Council recount personal memories of performances. The microphone is passed around, inviting the audience to also contribute to generating an oral history of performance art. The memories are audio recorded and archived to allow these unreliable narratives to take their place in history, thereby highlighting the complexities associated with historicising performance art.
