THE BIO
“Bang! Bang! Eche! are a five-piece dance-punk band from Christchurch, New Zealand. Their beats are along the measured, precise lines of Foals, but there's whirring, fitting keyboards around them and yelping vocals which mean it's less pretentiousness and more fun. It's medically impossible to listen to '4 To The Floor' or '(You & Me) As Thick As Thieves' and not dance involuntarily. The lyrics are deceptively clever; you're too busy having fun to actually take notice of them, but if you did, you'd realise there's a strange insight in to the world of parties down under.”

"Winner of EMJ's Best Up and Coming NZ Artist, and the 2007 RDU RoundUp, Bang! Bang! Eche! are making waves with their debut EP and exhilarating live shows. Whether it's tying up their singer to a chair, spontaneously switching instruments half-way through a song, or getting everyone up on stage to dance, BBE seem to be the definition of excitement in NZ music right now"
"BBE make a six car pile up on the desert road sound like a sparrow chirping at dawn"

Past:
We were all friends back in high school, and had been together in previous bands. When we were approached to play the last ever Sneaks show in NZ with Disasteradio, we got together and formed BBE. After that, we got invited to play more shows and parties with the people and bands that we loved, so we decided to make BBE a permanent fixture.
Present -
At the very end of May, we're releasing our debut, self-titled EP. It has 5 tracks, which consist of:
1. 4 To The Floor
2. Time Mismanagement
3. Nikee
4. (You + Me) As Thick As Thieves
5. Fingers In The Till
We'll be playing shows up and down NZ to coincide with the release, starting with supporting CHK CHK CHK / !!! at the Kings Arms in Auckland on May 28.
Future:
BBE are set to start work on a 2nd EP next month, which should be released locally around August/October.
In mid-November, we will be heading over to Europe for a month of shows starting with a tour of Germany, and ending with 4-5 shows in London in December. This will coincide with the release of the EP in Europe. That deal will see us heading into the studio at the start of the new year to record our first full length for EU distribution also.

This just wouldn't be complete without a "What are your influences?" question...
We're individually influenced by varying things, such as space, nature and Turkish kebabs. But as a whole, BBE draws most from Gang of Four, Lightning Bolt, Death From Above 1979, Shy Child, Steve Reich and Bauhaus.
