Hello lovely listeners…I have to apologise for my lack of bloggin so far this year, has been a crazy start to 2012 but things are looking good for RDU this year, our wee team is back at the coalface and keen to get grimey.

None more so than Spanky who has had a great first month with many an interesting yarn. Something that was pretty high-larious was a chat we had with Sir Bob Jones who wasn’t overly happy with how Mayor Bob Parker had dismissed his ideas for the Christchurch rebuild but wanted to be his best mate on Campbell LIVE, the old chap had a good old rant about it.

We also have been chatting to new Labour leader David Shearer who has promised to be less boring than his predecessor Goff-Nuts, as well as catching up with our old pal Russell Norman. Still no chats with National…funny that.

This week we have been discussing the sad demise of Whitney Houston and the impact of earthquakes on your pets. Its award winning radio folks…

Yes yes all RDU crew this is Messenjah holding things down here in the RDUnit! Things are poppin here and the station is in my humble opinion sounding better than it has in some time, specialist shows are killing it with my top picks for the week being Dubbers Anonymous tonight (Monday) at 9.30, the Soul Stew show with Tim Driver covering the Hit List on Wednesday at 8pm! On Thursday of course the Supafly show at 8pm with Soul Providah is well worth checking out and on Friday – The Movement Hip Hop show at 9.30pm is a must! There are plenty of other top ranking specialist shows worth listening to so check our programme guide for a run down! Also, our lovely breakfast producer Rachel Morton has been uploading tasty bits and pieces to our pod cast site, we recently had a live to air with legendary turntablist Alphabethead, you can check out the podcast of the set at www.rdu985fm.podomatic.com.

I had the great pleasure of adding some excellent new tunes to playlist this week from the likes of Kingpin and Deadly Hunta (check the video link at the top of the page) a conscious hip hop reggae jam from Noble Society who feature one of may favourite artists at the moment Jahdan Blakkamoore. We also got fresh biz from Gold Panda, Amy Winehouse feat. Nas, Skillz In Motion, Radio Citizen, Russ Liquid, Mayer Hawthorne (Thanks Willy!) David Starfire, Ill Gates, K+Lab, a Parks remix of Ladi 6 – Like Water and a bunch more. You know how we roll, stay tuned – RDU is the baddest!

Jah Bless
