Update: RDU prepared to meet kidnappers’ demands

RDU is prepared to meet unconditionally the demands of ‘The Real RDU’, the shadowy organisation presumed to have kidnapped Station Manager Andrew ‘Hat’ Meier late on Wednesday 29th November.

The revised demands most recently published are:

“We have adjusted our demands:
No more than 90% drum n bass
No more than 90% 'indie'
No more than 90% electronic music
No more than 90% music with guitars
No more than 90% slow music
No more than 90% fast music
No less than 100% best independent music available to humankind”

These demands were posted on the group’s site (http://therealrdu.blog.co.nz) yesterday along with a video showing Hat blindfolded and pleading for his safe release.

RDU is prepared to meet all of these demands in order to secure Hat’s release. In addition RDU is able to promise:

  • The format and content of RDU isn’t about to change
  • We are not going to become just another bland and boring commercial station
  • The RDU you know and love will be here for the long term
  • RDU will continue to be the connection to student life
  • RDU is still going to be playing the best new music in Christchurch, supporting local arts, music and culture, having unmissable specialist shows...and at the same time not taking itself too seriously.

Although RDU Intelligence is fairly certain of the location of the Waltham Wool Warehouse in which Hat is being held, RDU will stand down its paramilitaries (the RDbrUisers) and will not attempt any rescue, as a sign of good faith towards the captors.

RDU hopes this release will spread to the leadership of ‘The Real RDU’ via the media, who have been of great assistance already in raising awareness of the crisis.

Attention ticket holders for: State of mind / Chris su / Jade & Mc Tiki , July 19th @ Civic
Unfortunately on Saturday night the flight in which all the main acts were on inbound to Christchurch could not land because of fog and eventually Christchurch airport was closed. As many of you may well know we have re-scheduled the event for this coming Thursday night the 24th July @ Civic. The gig will be starting earlier to accommodate for those with work on Friday. So doors will open from 8pm with the main acts starting from 9pm. Unfortunately we are unable to rebook the intended host, MC Tiki as he has another booking on Thursday night in Auckland.  MC Mana will be hosting the evening.

Again we apologize for the inconvenience of the airport closure which has forced the date change.  If you require any more information from us please email  us @  info@wiseguys.co.nz

Thanks Wise.
